Advertisement Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hi rollsman4, Take a look here Format NEW SD Card On D2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
williamgm Posted July 8, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 8, 2014 Congratulations on finding a D2 - I bought one just over a year ago & it's my favourite camera, in spite of the low spec. (by current standards). The format instruction took me a little while to find, but it's on page 115 in the 'Quick Guide' section of the manual (well, it is in the manual I downloaded, so I assume they're all the same). You move the small lever under the shutter speed dial to the left - it's the 'Play' setting, with a small arrow on it. Then, you'll see a new menu on the rear screen & 'Format' is within that menu. Best wishes, Geoff
rollsman4 Posted July 10, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 10, 2014 Awesome and thank you. Can you recommend a close lens for shooting flowers and plants etc. I don't want to spend the 350.00 + for the leica collectible. Some good glass that will give me excellent quality images. I am NEW with the D2 and can use any suggestions you have or anyone on the D2 forum. Thanks again, Dennis

Thanks again, Dennis I use the Panasonic DMW-LC69 which is the close-up lens for the Lumix DMC-LC1 (Panasonic's equivalent to the Digilux 2).
williamgm Posted July 10, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 10, 2014 There's a lot of useful information in the long article about the Digilux 2 on Thorsten Overgaard's site: leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Sites - Leica Digilux 2 sample photos and tests (as well as Panasonic DMC-LC1) - Page 1 of 5 , plus elsewhere on this Forum of course! williamgm Posted July 11, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 11, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Many users of the Digilux leave the camera set to jpeg only; the quality is excellent and of course the in-camera processing of these images is then (relatively) quick. I prefer to have the back-up of a raw file, so I have my camera set to jpeg+raw. It is slow, but I can live with that (most of the time - it does depend on what you're shooting, of course). The out-of-camera B&W images are very good, often I set the camera to B&W (via the White Balance part of the menu) which gives a B&W jpeg but all the colour information in the raw file. You also have the benefit of seeing the image in B&W through the viewfinder. As others have said, the files are quite 'delicate' by today's standard so make adjustments carefully. Finally (for now!) a spare battery is always a good idea if you don't have one already. Geoff
pop Posted July 11, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 11, 2014 You can use batteries which are sold for the Panasonic DMC-LC1 and even the DMC-L1.
jrethorst Posted July 12, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 12, 2014 The "Field Guide to the Digilux 2" is very good. I think Thorsten links to it, or a search would certainly find it.
