Sacrificing your health for the health of your Leica

Yesterday I fell. It HURT. I was running across the street and my foot went into a hole in the street. I went down hard. I was carrying an M9 and 50mm Summilux. My elbow and knee and, most especially, my hip feel sore and scraped today. When I fell, I instinctively raised my hand that was holding the Leica. I did not even have to think about protecting it. The Leica would be protected. I guess the thought of the repair bill was enough to act this way :-) . The camera came out of this very well. Just a small scratch/dent in on the bottom (battery) plate and a small dent/scratch on the Summilux built-in lens hood.

Over the years I have learned

Secure the camera so it can not fall. It can not fall from the floor to a table or from the floor mat to the car seat. Got kids, secure in a protective bag.

I have fallen too many time on slippery wet leaves and half buried tree roots. The Leica is either in the bag or actively taking pictures.

Well my friend fell down some stairs with his M9 in hand - the camera was fine but the arm was fractured - priorities .

I think you have your priorities wrong, big style :roll eyes:

In about 4 years time your M9 will me worth £1000 if you are lucky .Get it insured and swop your used M9 "which is only worth about £2500 in part ex" today, for an M240 if you use a good new for old policy. No brainer.
