comte de Mazan Posted June 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I am the happy owner of a Leica MP from 2004 and I noticed that the iso selector disk has changed three times of shape in the history of this camera. At the very beginning it was the same than the M6, after, like mine (see photo), and after (around No 3 000 000). like this (an MP3 /LHSA, it seems to have no central axis). Why this changes? Leica Fanatic Posted June 27, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 27, 2014 That's progress I'm afraid, like when British Rail switched from Whitworth to UNC threads on the boiler access hatches.
wattsy Posted June 27, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 27, 2014 I imagine that the reason is changing suppliers, parts availability, that kind of thing.
250swb Posted June 27, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 27, 2014 I have the first version, Leica were just using up M6 TTL parts. Steve
bocaburger Posted June 28, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 28, 2014 Mine were like the 1st version. At the time there were both versions in the stock pipeline and I specifically bought the 1st (M6 style) version because the detents are much less susceptible to accidentally moving it. comte de Mazan Posted June 28, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted June 28, 2014 When I bought my camera, I thought that the central circle (with the lines for gripping) was in plastic .. but later I noticed that it was made of painted metal.
honcho Posted June 29, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 29, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) ..... I specifically bought the 1st (M6 style) version because the detents are much less susceptible to accidentally moving it. Mine is the second version. Can you explain why you say this is more susceptible to being accidentally moved? After 8 years of use it is still as tight as it was when new and needs quite firm and determined pressure from the tip of a thumb on the central ribbed disc to adjust it. Unless I'm missing your point, I can't see how it could be accidentally moved.
