Confused about data transfer

I recently purchased the new T system in London and we are currently traveling in Germany, and we are enjoying our new camera.

So, I downloaded the App to my I-Pad and both the camera and the I pad are on the same wi-fi system at the hotel and they are recognizing each other - good news.

I can see the photos I took on my i-pad - good news.

However, I was sure that I should be able to actually transfer the photos so that they reside on my i-pad - that is the part I can't make work.

The moment I turn the camera off the photos disappear - what am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

Exactly, and how precisely do I do that?

When you have the display of thumbnails (the pictures in the camera), you can click on one. It will expand in a new window, and in the bottom left corner of the screen is an icon - a square with an arrow in the center pointing up.

Press it. You will see an option, "Import Original". A red progress line will run across the bottom of the picture, followed by the message, "Save successful". The picture should go to a Leica T folder in your Photos.

There are other options available under the square/arrorw icon, such as mailing the picture, posting to facebook, storing in iCloud, etc..

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much.

So, photos can only be imported one at a time?

I somehow had expected that I would be able to " download" all photos from the camera to the i-pad in a batch using wi-fi.

With other words that the camera would act like one of my other apple devices which share photos with each other using the cloud.

Looks like I will have to transfer photos the old fashioned way by USB to my i-Mac which then will share them with my i pad and i phone.

Again, thank you for solving the puzzle.

Apple has a camera connection kit for the iPad. It consists of two little devices that plug into the iPad port. One permits USB connectivity and the other is an SD card reader.

$29 for the pair. Link below.

Yes if you have an iPad that then is the easiest solution and fastest in this instance.  To download one by one, is a bit of a joke really.

Honestly, I rate the entire T App as a joke. The camera does not store DNG files when remote controlled by the App, it asks users to download photos one by one ... Not really of a big use ...

I would agree with that and by default WiFi, I cannot get it to work. It is the only WiFi item I have that does not work! Well anyway the SD-Card slot and the cable are good enough for me. However, the T App, coming from a company like Leica should be a far slicker piece of software and one that works every time, and in no way merely downloading one by one like from Noah's Ark.
