hockey44 Posted June 19, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I am a newbie to both my M240 (love it) and this forum. When I set camera to save both raw and jpeg (BW) I only can see the jpeg image and can't figure how to toggle to the RAW (color). Any simple way of solving this or is the default always to the jpeg (BW) and that's life? Thanks
Advertisement Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Hi hockey44, Take a look here LCD viewing question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mjh Posted June 19, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 19, 2014 No camera can display a raw file, but only an image developed from the raw data. In this case the image developed in-camera happens to be in black&white since that is what you had selected. A raw converter could create a colour version from the same raw data, though. hockey44 Posted June 19, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted June 19, 2014 thanks for explanation-- does that mean I could have the primary image displayed as the raw one (and not jpeg (BW). If so how do I do this in settings? Previously when I only shot RAW (single image and no duplicate in jpeg) the display of course showed the Raw in color. jaapv Posted June 19, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 19, 2014 Read Michael's post - it does not show a raw image - it shows a jpg developed from the raw data, which ( the jpg) you happen to have set to B&W, hence it is B&W. If you want the camera to produce a colour jpg, you will have to set it to colour jpg. Raw files are not displayable without developing. Obviously the DNG (aka raw) file will have all data included, so you can play around to your heart's content in your postprocessing.
hockey44 Posted June 20, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted June 20, 2014 Hi and please forgive my lack of imprecision in the initial question. If I want to shoot raw and BW (jpeg) can I view the image in color (jpeg) while simultaneously be making the dng and bw (jpeg)? This was a recommended setting from Overgaard so you can review both images later quickly in color and BW and decide if it is worth keeping one or the other. jaapv Posted June 20, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 20, 2014 You can do so later in the computer provided you have DNG set but not on the camera,
Gibbo Posted June 28, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 28, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm sure I have read on here before that you can set the lcd screen display to black & white, mine is colour. How do you do this? I have looked in the manual and gone through the menu several times and cannot find it. Getting concerned that my brain is failing me. ayewing Posted June 28, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 28, 2014 If you look in the IMAGE MENU you will find an entry called Film Mode. This gives you the option to set B&W.
