BerndReini Posted August 1, 2016 Share #601 Posted August 1, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, that is it. So definitely a negative of this lens that you have to take into consideration. It does bother me at times since it keeps the lens from being my perfect all rounder. Peter Kilmister Posted August 6, 2016 Share #610 Posted August 6, 2016 @paulmac: I agree that Kodachrome 25 slide film was amazing. I remember taking shots with a Nikon F with manual focus in Monaco using that film. I must dig out the slides and see if I can get them printed or scanned. Thank you for reminding me.
graphlex Posted August 6, 2016 Share #611 Posted August 6, 2016 Silverfast does a superb job with Kodachrome, especially if you use one of their target slides. One of the few reasons to put up with Silverfast.

james.liam Posted August 14, 2016 Share #613 Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) Shot directly into the sun underexposed by 0.7 EV; Helipoan 2-stop ND filter; contrast and sharpness tweaked post. Don't appreciate the infamous flare. This is a recent copy, manufacture date Spring 2016. Jaffa Gate, Jerusalem, Welcome, dear visitor! NB23 Posted August 14, 2016 Share #615 Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) "My lens is the new version. I didn't formulate this correctly though. I didn't mean that the top of the frame is covered by the hood, but that the lens hood partially covered the light that hit the top of the lens casting a narrow band across the top of the frame, but not enough to cover all the light that hit the lens. " That's not the hood at all. Scary. Edited August 14, 2016 by NB23

james.liam Posted August 14, 2016 Share #617 Posted August 14, 2016 As an aside, these downsized JPEGs really do no justice to this lens. This is my first run around with the APO on a MM v.1; looking at the originals on a good monitor, it becomes painfully evident how high the resolution is, noticeably more so than the 50 Summilux I once owned, that subjects shot at ƒ/2 appear 'etched out' of the surroundings. The effect is so astounding wide-open and with subtle tonality, that I found little point stopping down so I slapped on an ND filter and left it there.

Depth of field is invaluable.
james.liam Posted August 19, 2016 Share #620 Posted August 19, 2016 Stopping down has its obvious uses. Depth of field is invaluable. Of course, but I was commenting on was what it is already capable of at f/2.
