Here's a shot of some kids playing baseball after school this past week. M3, 28mm summaron (screw mount), portra 400 Welcome, dear visitor! pauledell Posted May 25, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 25, 2014 Adam, A great shot of the action. It's good to see some positive improvements made. Paul
Iduna Posted May 25, 2014 Share #3 Posted May 25, 2014 Adam, this picture has its own charming colors and stands out for its perfect timeing and framing. It has a touch of a Hopper picture and his art of abstraction.
A miller Posted May 25, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted May 25, 2014 Many thanks, Paul and Iduna. Really appreciate your time. Iduna - I don't know Hopper, but the background is certainly a little surreal, which is exactly how it looks when you see it in person. The shot is a tad bit too grainy for my tastes; i think this is b/c the lens is so contrasty and my nikon coolscanner worked too hard to try to flatten out this contrast. Perhaps I'll give it another go and add a little more light into the film. Thanks again!
stuny Posted May 25, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 25, 2014 Terrific.
Deedleberry Posted May 25, 2014 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2014 The colours are really beautiful in this, just that cyan round the bridge! There is something about the chain link fence, obviously it can't be avoided, but I can't decide whether it makes quite a strong composition or not. It seems like a lovely place to shoot at that time of day! Also this is my first post so apologies that you were subject to it!
A miller Posted May 25, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted May 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Also this is my first post so apologies that you were subject to it! Thanks and very happy for you to comment! I actually could and, in some other shots, did avoid the fence quite simply by sticking my camera lens through the fence. I like this shot the best b/c I think the fence gives the impression of the court being caged in, which is how it appears in real life. The bridge is blue in color and I liked the way the film rendered this as well as the rust on the edges in the front. I'd love to understand better your last sentence, if your time permits. Thanks again! Adam
Deedleberry Posted May 25, 2014 Share #8 Posted May 25, 2014 In which case the fence is a very nice touch! What last sentence? About it being my first post? http://www.dandalephoto.tumblr.com
A miller Posted May 25, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted May 25, 2014 Thanks, Dan (?). Now I understand your last sentence, and am happy to say that I am honored to be the subject of your first post. A miller Posted May 25, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted May 25, 2014 Hi Berth - Thanks for stopping by. You're absolutely right! Don't know what I was thinking! Well, I do, but I don't know how I could have thought that! LOL!
Iduna Posted May 26, 2014 Share #12 Posted May 26, 2014 Adam, thanks for the information. Don't worry about the graininess or scanner defisciencies. In this cas I dinf all this adding to the picture underlining its kind of lonesomeness. Under this aspect the fence is a supportive element. If the fence were not there then perhaps other aspects are of importance but the pisture as such is very balanced. Nice work.
