luigi bertolotti Posted May 1, 2007 Share #21 Posted May 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had used Leicas for almost 7 years when (lot of years ago...) I took my collapsible 50 'Cron : first pictures with it were completely out ot focus... I knew well the Elmar 50... I extended the Cron... thought it was out of register, or a fake lens, or so... well, the truth was I did not extended RIGHTLY the lens unit ... it may happen.. do not be embarassed Kathleen. Regarding "cap on lens"... oh, it's normal still today... Leitz lenses are SO precious... FIRST : never forget to protect the front lens ! SECOND : remember to remove protection when shooting ! but, as I say, SECOND, not FIRST...

StS Posted May 1, 2007 Share #22 Posted May 1, 2007 The same could have happened to me if I hadn't bought mine at a dealer who gave me an extensive introduction - I was the only customer for quite some time and he knew a lot about M's. Forgetting the lens cap is a real classic, it still happens to me, since I do the majority of my shots using a digital SLR... Enjoy your M
