Turtle swimming Iguana Turtle swimming This was a learning exercise i.e. taking photos through the glass fronted vivarium and terrarium - and creeping up on the alligator without him snapping at me The alligator photographed in mono as he was enjoying 'lamp-bathing' whilst stretched out on the grass next to his pond - the lamp cast a red beam of warm red light from above onto his back which looks rather too artificial in a colour photo. Attempting a custom white balance was difficult as there were no 'whites' inside the tanks. X Vario camera set to single point focus which positioned over the creatures' eyes. Another trip is planned when hope to improve on these results - but the refuge centre is only open to the public six times per year. fotografr Posted May 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2014 Really nice results, Dunk. On your return trip, maybe you can get a nice close up of the gator with it's mouth wide open. That would be impressive.
dkCambridgeshire Posted May 24, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted May 24, 2014 Really nice results, Dunk. On your return trip, maybe you can get a nice close up of the gator with it's mouth wide open. That would be impressive. I'll try but meantime maybe this will be of interest: Welcome, dear visitor! And this is a Celebes Ape … the creature's arm conveys a sense of, " Why am I here ?… Help me !!" But the reality of the situation is that he's being fed by the lady and asking for 'MORE PLEASE' … the lady is one of the centre's staff. However, the poor creature is there because it was a 'pet' and its previous owner for whatever reason probably could not cope with it. This particular ape has been there since 1999. Ape photo taken with Leica C at the tele end. Best wishes dunk
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Another XV picture. Iduna Posted May 24, 2014 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2014 Dunk, these are quite nice results. My favourites are the Iguan second version, the alligator both versions, the second one is outstanding, and the communication between monkey and woman. all of the pictures have nice perspective and are precisely focussed which is the main thing. On a second visit one sometimes gets completely different pictures because animals are never the same and yet somehow one gets more familiar with those animals. We are kept in suspense... pauledell Posted May 25, 2014 Share #5 Posted May 25, 2014 Dunk, A lovely series with great results. They all impressive but I would give the alligator a lot of room. He looks rather hungry. Paul
