esquire53 Posted May 14, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 14, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did anyone seen the same with the Monochrom? I had the sensor tested for cleanness and discovered the darker half. Has someone seen the same? Regards Welcome, dear visitor! adan Posted May 14, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 14, 2014 I haven't had it myself, but others have. It is an electronic problem - not with the sensor directly* - but in the electronics that handle the image as it flows off the sensor. For speed reasons, the signal is read from the center out to the edges (like people leaving a row of theater seats, from the center out to two aisles at either end), and a mismatch can crop up in how the signal is processed from the two halves. http://www.machinevision.ca/files/Support_Documents_and_Downloads/AF00006402_PilotTapBalanceWhitePaper.pdf As I recall, this requires a trip to Solms for an adjustment to the programming of, or replacement of, the downstream electronics (again, not the sensor itself). *Edit - well, it IS an "expected" inherent Kodak CCD sensor effect, apparently, but one that is supposedly corrected in processing the sensor data. So if it is actually visible in the finished picture, it is the balancing of the downstream converters that has to be adjusted.
