johnwolf Posted April 29, 2007 Share #22 Posted April 29, 2007 I see still see M8 threads in the non-M8 digital forum; so what is the use of having a separate one? I didn't know there was an M8 forum until I did a search and saw it in the results. Probably others also have not noticed. Give it some time. FMB Posted April 30, 2007 Share #23 Posted April 30, 2007 Hello sub-divided, I had made the purpose to be quiet for a very long period, because it looked like my way of saying disturbed and offended many people because my style is too much direct an always lacking in idioms and soft words, as my poor English can predict; but I can’t bear some fraises are appearing from time to time like distilled advices to keep quite, ironic, could be even polite words coming from superior minds, telling us to leave aside the whole room for the advanced members in intelligence, or in aesthetics, even in technique, acting as watchmen of what lines all of us must follow not to subtract some attention to their important reflections and elevated conversations in between. It seems that is more relevant the format than the actual and hurting content of what is said, even I have just used the irony now; please don’t be offended! In spite of someone has promise to be nice with common people, I (person very common) and suppose many like me wanted to know why the division in a separate M8 Forum has been adopted, which have been the promoters and why, as many other subjects related to the Forum, this change has not commented to the members. I understand that the Forum doesn’t work like a poll, I’ve myself said before it mustn’t do, but it would be worse it were an aristocracy of the theorists, of the “pater familie”, the famous ancestors of the Forum. In my opinion, may be someone would be interested in a recent member way of thinking, “The Digital Forum” it’s a very specific space to contribute, ask, consult, and debate all the areas relatives to digital way of taking digital pictures and not precisely a place to theorize in very deep matters or philosophy about the life of the photographers. (Themes I like very much and think are necessary for all). What about in Barnack’s Bar or other Forum less specific? On the contrary of others, I think the Digital one and its success and popularity, mustn’t be used for some as a place to astonish all of us with their peaces of art or to filter the threads they consider interesting or should been thrown out, this last job is perfectly well done by the moderators. I assume it could come out some “silly” threads, but it’s a price all of us must pay in order to open to many people who could be members with future interesting proposals. The Digital Forum of Leica mustn’t be closed or made difficult to beginners. Let also dye the less interesting threads by their own starvation, as usual. The launch of M8 camera has revitalized in a big manner the Digital Forum and the subdivision only produces an artificial removal of users of that camera from the digital matters in general. Aren’t there any connections with DMR, with Digilux 3 and all the other digital cameras, any common issues, any technical ways of solving how to take photography? Francisco. FMB Posted April 30, 2007 Share #26 Posted April 30, 2007 IM, Some of us, coming from the big section of "aficionados", along our live haven't got many opportunities to share the same Forum with a select group of pros and good photographers like you and others. We can't loss any chance been "divided or discriminated". I think we have the right to be present. I can't be much clear. . Francisco.
wparsonsgisnet Posted May 3, 2007 Author Share #27 Posted May 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) New critical statistical information (arbitrary sampling during the day): For the partial day of May 3, 2007, the average number of Digiral Forum viewers NOT in the M8 forum is 54%. This whinger is looking for salt to flavor the hat. I guess the (currently few) owners of M8 don't really own this forum. I add the additional comment, that even tho there are more viewers in the non-M8 portion of the DigiForum, there seem to be more updates in the M8 portion. andym911 Posted May 3, 2007 Share #28 Posted May 3, 2007 can someone please let me know wht this particular thread is about? Seriously, reading the OP through to the last I just don't get it.All I can see is that it is vaguely related to the fact that the M8 forum is now a subforum of the Digital forum..which by the way I still don't understand the reasoning behind. Not sure if the # of viewers reflects M8 vs. non-M8 interest as there is still quite a bit of M8 content on the main digi forum.

jonoslack Posted May 4, 2007 Share #31 Posted May 4, 2007 To be honest, I've long been fed up with those "How can I get Leica color from the Digilux 2?" or "Aperture Hacks for DNG" type of threads. A dedicated forum for the M8 is undoubtedly much better. Hi Simon and what makes you think that the 'Aperture hacks for DNG' type of thread wouldn't appear here? It only related to the M8. Still, It does take a little getting used to.
sdai Posted May 4, 2007 Share #32 Posted May 4, 2007 It only related to the M8. No, Jono ... Aperture officially doesnt' support any Leica camera (the Digilux 2 and 3 made an exception but they're really Panasonics and they don't use DNG format). You can hack away as you want ... but Aperture itself as a software product clearly isn't associated with M8, DMR nor any blue blood Leica at all. Any threads with regards to Aperture should be considered completely off topic not only in this sub forum but also on the whole web site.
