As a rule, camera vendors block GPS functionality in China (and other places such as Cuba) so the owners of their cameras won’t get into trouble with the local authorities. Â Â Well if they want to confiscate your camera for GPS, they will surly take your mobile phone too. Since effectively a GPS camera too! Therefore, before traveling in other countries you should consult the relevant country's embassy or your travel agent. Â Similar boilerplate is found in the manuals of virtually all cameras with GPS functionality. There is no mention of whether (and where) any such restriction is enforced by the camera itself.
