John Z. Goriup Posted April 23, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not to compete with Syd's post, but it did remind me of just how wonderful, exotic and charming these old Alfas really were. Under Enzo Ferrari's team management and given Vittorio Jano's ( born Victor Janos ) design genius and Nuvolari and Carracciola driving, they were virtually unbeatable until the late '30s when the Hitler / Third Reich mandated 'Silberpfeils' began utterly dominating international Grand Prix racing. Beautiful to behold and incredibly satisfying to drive, but their real charm and appeal and especially their historical significance don't begin to emerge until one looses himself in the mechanical details of their design and construction.
