visiondr Posted April 25, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I simply can't find one for love, or money. I'm looking for a good used copy of this lens and they just don't seem to be for sale at all. Is this due to the "M8 effect" on lens sales? I would have thought that people would have been snapping up the new ASPH 28 elmarit and thus freeing up the suppy of version IVs. What's up?

There are seven used Leica 28mm lenses listed here: http://www.keh.com/OnLineStore/ProductList.aspx?Mode=searchproducts&item=0&ActivateTOC2=false&ID=&Size=&BC=LM&BCC=1&CC=6&CCC=2&BCL=&GBC=&GCC=&KW= Good luck! visiondr Posted April 26, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted April 26, 2007 Richie, Thanks for the heads-up. However, none of those listed are version IV elmarits. Some are version 2, 3 and some Rokkor M mount lenses. I was just surfing over at the 'bay and saw some crazy high prices for version IV lenses ($1593 and $1737 USD, for example)!!! The brand new 28/2.8 ASPH is only $1495 new! This doesn't make sense to me.
luigi bertolotti Posted April 26, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 26, 2007 I think that, simply, 28 IV version owners do not have reason to sell it, so you do not find them in the marketplace; it is not at all a collectible, it is a very recent and very good lens(I think, don't have it, but hope no worst than my excellent Elmarit 28 ver. III....), it can be coded for M8... no surprise is almost impossible to find, and that if one wishes anyway the Asph... well, does not want to net more than some Pounds in switching.
