Nick De Marco Posted April 4, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just finished editing this short (under 9 minutes) Thai boxing movie for some friends. Check my blog to read more and watch video: Rangefinder Chronicles: Super Mauy Thai Boxing movie I shot it on the Leica M, as with most of the photos also on the video. Wouldn't have wanted any other camera for this - and I speak as a former professional film and video editor. The team are blown away with it and it will be shown on a large screen to 1,500 fans at the next big show - which should be fun to experience. Nick Welcome, dear visitor! DigitalHeMan Posted April 4, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 4, 2014 Impressive work, Nick! I'm assuming the images at the end are 'real' photos, rather than video stills? Were you only shooting part of the fight in video, or did you have a second shooter?
Nick De Marco Posted April 4, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted April 4, 2014 Thanks Simon Yes the black and white photos at the end are real stills I took at the same time as making the movie - and no, I decided to do it all alone - switching quickly between shooting movies and stills with the same camera - which was a challenge to make sure I had enough good material to edit for both! Delcredere Posted April 5, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 5, 2014 Fantastic! So much raw energy, emotion and movement sharply caught: An emphatic riposte to those who argue against the availability of a function that they do not themselves wish to use. I have been putting off getting to grips with the M video but this is real encouragement to have a go.

swamiji Posted April 6, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 6, 2014 I will join in on the applause, well done. I too have a question, how did you manage the sound? Interview vs fight?
Nick De Marco Posted April 7, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted April 7, 2014 Thanks guys I used a 64GB card. I think I only used less than half during the fight so could have got away with using my 32GB card but better to be safe than sorry, I didn't have to change battery either (but had a spare). Re sound, I just used the onboard mike for interviews. I also recorded sound during the fight - but it was never going to be good because they had a very loud speaker system and with fast editing the sound would be allover the place, so my plan was to use live sound as background then put some music over in editing, as I did.
