wparsonsgisnet Posted April 25, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just looked at Edmund Ronald's new v1.102 profiles (in beta version). Â I like these very much for this version of the firmware -- and wonder what Leica is doing in the firmware since I am operating on the "R-A-W" file. Â What are they doing to tweak it? Are they changing the compression algorythm? Â As you can see the colors are substantially different, even seen at 900 dpi and baby-jpg rendering. Â M8, 24mm asph, iso 160, 1/750 @ f8 (I find I can't close down further than that without losing resolution on the M8), B-W 486 filter. --- I am not sure which filter Edmund used to tune the profile; perhaps he will comment. Â It was a bright enuf day, and I was walking around zone focused with infinity a little inside the f8 marking. (There a-r-e some things that Capital-L liberals are conservative about .Color me pale pinko, if that's a socialist color ) Â First version is 1.092 Tuned2 porfile -- a little pale; second is 1.102 Linear; third is 1.102 Tuned1. The truth is in the 1.102 profiles. I'm having trouble deciding which I prefer. It might be easier with some skin.

wparsonsgisnet Posted April 25, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted April 25, 2007 Jarle, I put the first part of this thread in the sticky at the top of the page and asked Allan Brewer to delete this thread and the earlier, incorrect one. Â Would you move your post to the sticky thread? Â tnx,

elopezso Posted April 25, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted April 25, 2007 Jarle, Â You only posted 2 pics but listed 3. Could you post the 3rd and let us know definitively which one is which. Â As I won't have my camera back until May 9th or 10th, I have not been able to test Edmund's new profiles with nothing other than raw 1102 files taken with a flash . Thus, I don't feel competent to comment on his new beta profiles yet until I get my camera back and try them on many examples of well exposed non-flash photos. I have high hopes, however, that either the profiles will be good or will be very good in a short-time as Edmund tunes them. Â Ed

usm Posted April 25, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted April 25, 2007 Hi! I like the new profiles! Â First image is with profile "M8A1092linear" Second image is with profile "M8C1102Tuned1" Â My impressions are: In the tuned1 version I am missing some shadows and it is, for me, a little to bright. For the attached image i like the linear version more. Both of them are, i tried one in Lightroom, a little "flat". I am missing a little "3D" or lets say differentiation of skin tone. Â Hope my english is readable. Â Best Mario
