My New Brand Leica 75mm f2 bought with the 30% discount has finally arrived.

Out of the box is smaller than I thought before. Works nice and gentl and now I'm sure was the right decision.

Here some pics right out of the box!

Wow, I didn't know they were in short supply! When my M8 body came in, my dealer at the 75/f2 in stock and I snapped it up. V nice lens, for sure. I goes well with the 35/F2 Summicron, too, having the same range of f-stops.

From the pics, it seems you are off to a good start.

Thats amazing! I have been waiting on feedback for this lens on the M8. I'm thinking of using it for portraits, but didn't know if the cropping issue would affect the performance of the lens heavily.

I'm awaiting your street shots with interest!

The 75 APO is really nice for portraiture. It focuses relatively close (for M lenses) and the optics are just incredible. I love this lens. Just tough to get one these days (even for dealers).

Here is a shot I took a long while ago (no IR filters, early firmware), with a 100% crop of the eye.

I agree with you and your picture just confirm the extremly quality of this lens. So This is really a nice portrait.

My one problem today was to focus when the subject is moving, but I think it will be just to get a bit of feeling with the focus.

Yes, I shot RAW and converted using C1. I don't like to apply sharpening to my files, so this is mostly as is. I did bring the file into Photoshop to do some Healing Brush work on the blemishes, but that's it. No additional sharpening.

The picture was shot with Elinchrom strobes, with a 53" Rotalux softbox about 1 foot in front of the model. Handheld at ISO 160, 1/250th of a sec, probably f/11 (but not sure).

Yeah, the lens is sweet and just great for this kind of work. Thanks for the comments.

David nice to see you posting more here lately. i think you should do more of it.

For folks that do not know David he is the man at Dale labs in Florida and has a great lab and also a authorized leica dealer. BTW he is also organizing the Germany Porsche/leica trip , which i would give my eye teeth to attend.

Even the 75mm F2 is out of stock. Wow

Yes, Guy. It is very difficult to get Leica lenses. If you find one in a store, perfect. In other case, your seller must to order it to Leica, and thewaiting list for any lens is weeks or even months. Leica must be busy at this moment. See the effect of the M8 on the second-hand market of lenses. Many models have dissapeared, and the prices have risen.

Wow, the 75 cron looks great! They have one at my local camera shop. I'm in the process of gettting a 75 lux. I wonder if i should consider the Cron. Is it closer focusing, Sharper,

Lighter, less expensive , better balanced. But,just not as fast?

Could someone please convince me that the 75 lux is the way to go?

Thanks,

Tim
