Steve_F Posted March 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I know this has been bounced around the internet for a long time, but does anybody here have experience of the Zeiss 21/4.5 on the M9? I've read all the issues with colours in the corners etc, but I wish to use it on an M6TTL too. Having owned this lens (then sold it prior to M9 purchase) I know it produces outstanding results on film. Is there a way to cure any problems? BTW I only shoot DNG too Thanks, Steve. derleicaman Posted March 28, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 28, 2014 Cornerfix should deal with it. Outstanding lens, but I got tired of having to do so many corrections using it on the M9, so I sold it on. I have the Zeiss 18 which has no issues on the M9. I still miss the 21, so I might get the 21 SEM at some point.
MarkP Posted March 28, 2014 Share #3 Posted March 28, 2014 A spectacular lens... M9, 4.5/21 ZM C-Biogon Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Now the full story. I bought it some time ago when I wanted a more compact lens than 21 than the Summilux for daytime work (before the SEM was in production). sharp as a tack, almost no distortion, relatively cheap, light and compact. But, in the end the red-edge drove me up the wall. Even these B&Ws needed a fair bit of edge work in photoshop until they were suitable for large prints (which they certainly now are - A2). I then bought a 21 SEM but I was so attached to the Zeiss it still took me almost a year until I sold it. If you can. get the 21 SEM. Steve_F Posted March 31, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted March 31, 2014 Thank you both for the honesty in the replies. I know that my patience would be limited if I had to spend too much time in PP for the corner issues. 21 3.4 it is then. Better get saving All the best, Steve.
