firoze Posted March 13, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted March 13, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could any of you please suggest a good Leica dealer in the Bay Area in Calif? More specifically, the closer to Cupertino the better. But I'm willing to travel if necessary. Â I am from Mumbai, but will be visiting Cupertino shortly and would like to buy an X Vario along with some accessories (Lens Hood, Bag etc). I looked up the Leica website and emailed a couple of dealers in Palo Alto but have not heard from them. Â Any suggestions would be most welcome. I don't know if any discounts are being offered on the XV, but even if not, I would buy at full price. Thanks in advance.

earleygallery Posted March 13, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted March 13, 2014 There's a full list of Leica dealers on their website.
firoze Posted March 13, 2014 Author Share #4 Â Posted March 13, 2014 There's a full list of Leica dealers on their website. Â Yes I have checked the dealer list. And like I said, I did contact two dealers but they have not responded. My reason for posting is to get recommendations for forum members who have received good service from dealers in this area. DigitalHeMan Posted March 13, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted March 13, 2014 If you don't mind ordering across the web, you might want to contact B&H or KEH to see if they have anything you want. They will be able to ship. I was in SF a couple of weeks ago and there weren't really any camera stores of note there. Jeff S Posted March 13, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted March 13, 2014 Best one in that area is Keeble and Shuchat in Palo Alto. Jeff Alford is the Leica expert there. The store, and Jeff, are first rate. Â Jeff

woorob Posted March 13, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted March 13, 2014 Jeff S is absolutely correct. I purchased two Leicas from K & S when I worked in the Valley and they were great to deal with. Knowledgeable, friendly and honest.
John Z. Goriup Posted March 13, 2014 Share #9 Â Posted March 13, 2014 In my opinion the finest, most modern, best stocked, most professional by far, best staffed by the most knowledgable Leica users and experts ( Dan Leto, manager & Hal Kam, 30 + years of Leica experience ) is the newly expanded and sensationally upgraded CAMERA WEST store in Walnut Creek, in the East Bay. Â Their new Leica Boutique just had its grand opening last week. It's really worth your time to come visit and shop there. Â I've dealt with them exclusively since they opened the store in 2010 and have always been fully satisfied with their service, support, ability to serve my needs and answer my millions of questions truthfully and helpfully. Jeff S Posted March 13, 2014 Share #10 Â Posted March 13, 2014 I agree Camera West is good, but he mentioned location near Cupertino, and Keeble, which is next door, loses nothing in the comparison IMO. Of course if he wants to comparison shop and drive north, there are other options. Â Jeff
drew.saunders Posted March 13, 2014 Share #11 Â Posted March 13, 2014 I was in KSP the other day to pick up some film, and they have new MM's in stock, but I didn't ask about the XV. They also had a used M-9, but the used MM had been sold, so there's a chance that they would have a used XV, but it's a slim one. Â Bear Images, http://www.bearimages.com is also a Leica dealer. Â For both KSP and Bear, a phone call is better than an email, which may be impractical from Mumbai. Â Good luck, and welcome to Si Valley! firoze Posted March 13, 2014 Author Share #12 Â Posted March 13, 2014 ^ Thank you Drew & John. Actually I did email - and call - both Bear and K&S. The lady at Bear said she would reply to my email promptly but has not done so for the past several days. K&S said the XV was in stock at list price but before I could ask about a used XV, they disconnected. Anyway I will call them all, including Camera West when I get there. I don't mind driving to Walnut Creek if necessary. Let's see how it goes...
Likaleica Posted March 16, 2014 Share #13 Â Posted March 16, 2014 I HIGHLY recommend CameraWest. I have been to all three stores multiple times over the years. CameraWest not only has great staff and lots of inventory, but they have a Leica "museum" that is a blast to look at. Great service, friendly service. Can't go wrong. I live in Idaho and every time I get to the Bay Area my first stop is Camera West.

scranor Posted March 16, 2014 Share #15 Â Posted March 16, 2014 Hello, I am Sean Cranor, CEO at Camera West. This post was just brought to my attention. I do have a good supply of X-Vario's in stock and I use one myself. We just celebrated our Leica Boutique grand opening in Walnut Creek last week by offering Black X-Vario cameras for $2499.00. Let me know when you are coming and I will be happy to reserve one for you! Â Sean Cranor sean@camerawest.com
