It wouldn’t make a bloddy bit of difference. I drive a highly electronic Japanese car. The posts in the brand forums are 1:1 interchangeable with the posts in this forum. The only things that differ are the brand name and the name of the aspect under attack. You should see the fight about the direction indicator blinking three times when the stalk is touched without any adjustment of the number of blinks in the menu. “like European cars i.e. BMW have”….And the 273 post thread about the “bugs” in the Wifi which struggles with some Android phones, and even longer one about the poor implementation of the handsfree., slow or no updates of the firmware, Etc….

You traded your English roadster for a "highly electronic Japanese car"? Sounds amlmost like trading a German RF for a Japanese DSLR;).

Except for mechanical Swiss watches, the place of manufacturing is no longer as important as it used to be.

As a side note, this year I bought a new pair of skiing gloves from a regarded Austrian brand : "made in Vietnam" in the inner label, and a small unstitching after 6 days of usage....

Which brings it back to the quality control issue again, if nobody is checking the product, failures will occur. The labour costs makes it so much cheaper, and certainly in the UK there are incentives to import products from these economies as they allow the items to be subject to lower or even zero import duties on clothing

Proven and robust manufacturing processes, trained labour, a good QC and high quality can be produced pretty much anywhere. I didn`t say anything about productivity and yield, as these would be different discussions.
