psquared Posted April 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) A new failure mode. No, it did not have 100,000 clicks. Not even 10,000. There was no mechanical trauma to the camera. It just died 2 days ago, and it's on its way to NJ. I got warning messages that said "Drive Blocked" and "Shutter Failure." All I see is that the white exposure metering stripe is not there anymore. The blade is there, but not the metering stripe. It's probably been consumed by the camera and probably hit the sensor in the process. I tried the "sensor clean" setting to see if the shutter will open, but it doesn't respond. When I review images I took before the camera died, I do see dark shadows at different positions, which I assume is the metering stripe flailing around. I'm not happy is an understatement. fotografr Posted April 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 23, 2007 What do you expect for a mere $4,795? Perfection?
gravastar Posted April 23, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 23, 2007 The metering stripe is only visible after the shutter has recocked, so the prognosis may not be as bad as you expect. Bob.
