jevidon Posted March 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 1, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have firmware ver. 1.196. When I shut my M9 off last night, the LCD continued to glow softly. I was apparent only in very dim light. I actuated the on/off switch several times but the glow continued. I finally removed and replaced the battery in order to reboot and that did the trick. The monitor finally turned off. Has this happened to anyone else, or was it just a freak happenstance?
Advertisement Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Hi jevidon, Take a look here M9 monitor afterglow. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 1, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 1, 2014 It is probably some static electricity.TVs, computer monitors, low-voltage LED lighting, fluorescent tubes etc. sometimes do it as well.
pop Posted March 1, 2014 Share #3 Posted March 1, 2014 Phosphorescent and fluorescent lamps emit photons for some time after the excitement stops. Radar screens used to be made to glow for a long time while in TVs that was frowned upon because that tended to blur anything that moved in the picture. You don't usually notice it in FL lamps because the eye takes some time to adapt itself to the dark. By the time it has done so, the glow has become too dim to see.I don't know whether this applies to the light source in the M9's monitor.
jaapv Posted March 1, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 1, 2014 The backlight of an LCD is provided either by LED or by CCFL both of which are Phosphor based, so afterglow comes at no surprise. So probably no static electricity, as I erroneously posted…
