Leica X1 on a cruise

I deeply regret selling this little gem!...

Oh DrPix, why did you sell it? Although looking at your profile it seems you are constantly changing your cameras. How different we all are. If a camera works for me and produces stunning results, I see no point in selling it, no matter how tempting the marketing people make it for us. If you need more capability, yes, I understand. But the X1, despite being rendered obsolescent, it a fully capable little gem. It deserves a place in your commodious kit-bag :)

Beautiful pictures of the highest standard.

I am basically a "one-camera-at-the-time-only" man; I must shoot a lot with a specific camera (and ONLY with this camera) and after some time I tend to get the results I had in mind . Then I get tired of this camera and try another one, same story again. Changing between different cameras during my "shooting days" is out of the question. Then, in most cases, I sell one camera in order to afford another one. There´s usually no "looking back to old good times" problem, with some exceptions - X1 being the one! I have never had more than two cameras at one time (the "other" camera is only a back-up when travelling).

Snap, I echo your comments.

My wife and I did a cruise, along with over a month of land-based travel, in Europe last year.

Loved it.

Took an M6 with 35/2 and 50/2.

On the way out of NZ I bought a used X-1 at our first stop, Singapore.

Terrified of being limited to "just the one lens, and fixed lens at that" I used it with trepidation.

The M6 and lenses got relegated to the bag virtually every day following, including a fair chunk of time in Paris, where I felt my best B&W urges would come. They did, but via the B&W JPEG (as well as the DNG) from the X-1.

It was THE camera for me, and I loved it to bits. Still do, it is off to the doctors temporarily to have the flash fixed, it doesn't completely sit retracted, so fires every time you fire the camera. No biggie, but Leica Customer Service said it should be fixed, so it's getting done.

Sell it? Nope, too much sentimental, all those Europe memories, as well as a 12 day cruise around the Med. Too many memories, plus I found to my delight, one lens is a good move while traveling.
