msshea Posted February 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All, KEH advertised this as a case for an R 19mm f/2.8. Well, I bought it and the R 19 does fit in it, along with the detached hood, but it's obviously not a purposed R 19 case. I'm curious, does anyone know what its original use was? sc_rufctr Posted March 6, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2014 I would guess it's a Kodak case... 1950s?
msshea Posted March 6, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted March 6, 2014 I should have been more specific. The case has the embossed Leica name. Merrill
wlaidlaw Posted March 9, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 9, 2014 I suspect it may be for an LTM or maybe early M Leica with collapsible lens. Leica USA seemingly used to source leather items in the USA but have them embossed “Leica”. The case for my IIF, which my father bought new with the camera in New York in 1953, says “Made for Leica USA” inside. The leather is lovely quality and the workmanship every bit as good as the German cases of the same period. Wilson
