I have chosen the X-T1 mainly for its brilliant viewfinder, so I can use manual focus lens comfortably. The image in EVF is in it maximal size setting large and crisp enough so I do not need to use focus peaking or the "split screen" focusing aid.

On X-T1 I use manual focus lenses exclusively, with B/W image style (jpeg) with only minimal post processing touch in Lightroom - adding low or medium grain and little bit of clarity if needed. That is my idea of how I want to use this camera - purely for fun with occasional touch of creativity :)

Fuji did a great job with this camera!

Michael, what is the delay like when taking a photo - not the lag but the blackout time after pressing the shutter?

James

I agree that many like the familiarity of an SLR layout and I think that Fuji have done a much better job than Nikon with the fussy looking Df, albeit that the Nikon is proper SLR, but given they don't have the physical limitations of a pentaprism it's retro for the sake of it.

That said, I'm not a fan of the other end of the design scale which is different just for the sake of it!

I am unable to speak of the X-T1 but I have over two years of experience using both of the Olympus E-M5 and E-M1 which use very fine EVF's; their is no discernible blackout or delays between shots. In fact when using my E-M1's I forget that it is an EVF. I shoot mainly wildlife with long zoom lenses, (200-600mm equiv) and on the E-M1 I can shoot BIF (birds in flight) at 7fps on sequential mode without a break. The buffer keeps up too so no delays writing to card at that frame rate either.

The Fuji X-T1 is supposed to have an even higher resolution EVF but slower AF, which my old eyes need now. So the the lack of long zooms and obviously much larger, heavier lenses will prevent me changing from my Oly E-M1's! I will just wait for the E-M2 but only then if it shows any significant advantages! Meanwhile the available arsenal of Oly, Panasonic and other great m4/3 lenses keeps growing! ;)

You really see "no discernible blackout"? Perhaps I am missing something or have the E-M1 set up wrong. In single and low drive modes, I see a short blackout after every shot. In high speed drive mode, it is more of a stutter after every shot, followed by a short blackout at the end of the sequence.

The 'stutter" is probably a good description at 7fps in sequential mode, as I am aware of a rapid shutter firing rate. However I daresay that I have become so familiar with it that it doesn't interfere with my modus operandi.

I have an 18mm lens that came with an X Pro 1. I'm a bit surprised how poor the edge performance is, even stopped down.

It's a known junker in the XF lineup. The 18mm and the 35mm need to be updated: the 18mm has really nasty optics and the 35mm needs a better motor.

While Fuji was running insane deals in Canada, I went ahead and snagged a 23mm for a song, but I have no body. I finally tried the X-T1 yesterday and man, does it make the other EVFs downright depressing to use. I'll either spring for one of those or wait for the X-Pro2

Paul, very interesting post and resounding endorsement of the Fuji system. Why is it then that I read so many reservations about the X-Trans sensor giving a "water colour" effect. Have you ever seen this?

My experience with the XTrans did produce some watercolor effect, but this was only on the OOC JPEGs. Still, for what I wanted the system was too expensive. I found the images marginally better (if at all) than my Sony NEX images and the files harder to work with (I'm certain this would improve with experience). And although the XT1 was a really nice camera to work with it's still a bit bulky compared to the NEX and the zoom lens (the flexibility of which is an important factor for what I wanted) I had was nothing special (IMO). So, I just couldn't justify the $1,200 price tag for my needs.

Hi folks,

I am considering X-T1, and really like it after some trying. I intend to manual use it with 28 summicron, 35 summaron f2.8, and 50 summilux. On my M9P, I heavily use 28 and 50. But I notice Fuji m mount does not support 28 summicron. Is there any recommended adapter for 28?

Thanks in advance.

I have the Novoflex adapter which works well with my Voigtländer Ultron 2/28.
