Printmaker Posted February 4, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm moving my studio to a new building where the room layout will make it difficult to make my normal 20 minute exposures using my 309 mb BetterLight scanback on my 4x5. I'm wondering if anyone else is using their Leica S2 to photograph paintings for high end printing? If so, are you satisfied with the color and dynamic range? Because I cross polarize, dynamic range is a big consideration as is the ability to profile for various originals (water color papers, oil paintings, etc.) I'm also considering both the V back for Hasselblad and the H3D II- 39. My past experience with PhaseOne leaves me a bit wary of their products. But it might be time to forgive and forget. Thanks in advance.

ynp Posted February 4, 2014 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2014 Yes. We use the S2 for copying work alongside the Sinar P3 with a digital back. All on FOBA stands. I am happy with the results after color profiling the camera. At the same time Sinar is still better a device because the software is much more sophisticated than the ACR and adapted for the copying workflow. We cross polarize too. I will be waiting patiently for the outcome of the Sinar/ Leica joint effort before taking any changes in my workflow. Yevgeny
