lars_bergquist Posted April 22, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 22, 2007 Someone somewhere must now be gearing up to produce codable adapters. This someone may well be Cosina ... or possibly Novoflex. The old man from the Age of Screw-Up Lenses
marknorton Posted April 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 22, 2007 I've do not know why the cut out is there on current adapters but it will be an extra machining step they could just miss out. That would be handy, especially if the machining happened to leave... err... 6 small pits in the surface instead.
lars_bergquist Posted April 22, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 22, 2007 I've do not know why the cut out is there on current adapters but it will be an extra machining step they could just miss out. The reason usually given for the recess is that it is required to clear the infinity lock that was used in the collapsible lenses of the 1950s. But my collapsible 50 Summicron has the push-in infinity lock, and a wide base. The push-in doesn't seem to push very far. ChrisC Posted April 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted April 22, 2007 Six small pits may well be a patent infringement.......] Lars - This view has been asserted a number of times on the forum, and I cannot recall it being challenged. Whilst the Leica coding will be patented, I don't see how six well placed drill holes in a flange can infringe an intellectual property. I'd like to see a definitive reply to your assertion from someone with legal knowledge of IP. ........................Chris The tetchy git without his camera in the pub for bar-room lawyers.
