Paulus Posted February 10, 2014 Share #61 Posted February 10, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry, but this is simply a ridiculous assertion to make, especially for a high quality item such as a Leica digital M. It doesn't take much effort to find electronics more than thirty years old that are still going strong. Many general aviation aircraft operate today with radios and navigation equipment built in the 1980s. The Apple Mac just turned thirty, and while the features might not appeal I am sure that there are working examples still operating. I understand there is a robust collectors market for video games from the 80s and 90s. I guarantee that in fifty years there will still be working examples of every Leica camera model produced. The collectable value of Leica cameras has been well established over the last century, which will ensure the continued viability of every model via secondary repair facilities. I have no doubt that in 2057 you will be able to buy a "NOS" M8 on ebay. Of course the box and warranty cards will probably be replicas made in China. I saw my Erres Clockradio on ebay. Must have got it in 1977 so you'll bet it last until 50 years! rare ERRES vintage alarm clock radio works perfect looks good | eBay
Advertisement Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Hi Paulus, Take a look here Leica full script on M 240. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
StephenPatterson Posted February 12, 2014 Share #62 Posted February 12, 2014 Back OT I think there is a reason why there is no full script engraving on the top place of the M. You can be fairly certain that sometime later this year or next there will be a limited edition released with the following engraved on the top plate. Hamad Posted February 12, 2014 Share #63 Posted February 12, 2014 I agree StephenPatterson it's so true. Now Leica celebrating 100 years of their camera. I am sure there will be M on special 100 edition. I hope it's not too stupidly expensive. That could be a good buy. Let's see what Leica is cooking for their 100 Anniversary Models.
