Gilles L. Posted April 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, A few weeks ago, someone mentioned in this forum a company that does custom focusing screen for the visoflex III. I cannot find the thread... Do anyone know the name of the company or website address? Has anyone tried one of those custom focusing screens? I cleaned my visoflex inside out but the screen is rather dark, yellowish and very hard to close-focus, so I thought that might be the next route to take... Thanks for your help, Gilles

hankg Posted April 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2007 Brightscreen Haven't sent my Viso in yet (it's getting the mirror repaired) to have the screen they fabricated installed. But I've used the screens on other cameras and they are in my opinion the best available.
malcolm Posted April 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 21, 2007 Gilles, I have a replacement screen from Brightscreen (see http://www.brightscreen.com). It has a central microprism, surrounding fine ground glass collar, and remaining ground glass. It is much easier to focus than the original Leitz, and is not too difficult to install yourself. I've had mine for years, and don't know whether they are still manufactured. Guest guy_mancuso Posted April 21, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 21, 2007 I sent a note to Jim which is a good friend of mine and the owner of Brightscreen and he is in the process of making more Visoflex screens. I asked him to write me a little description and such so i can post it to the forum. He does suggest him doing the install. Hopefully i can get some more info on this

Gilles L. Posted April 21, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted April 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sounds good Guy; I just sent an email to order one with center microprism. I also asked if they could do a custom crop line at 1.33 to use with the M8 so that I get a more accurate framing. I have been using the set-up for product photography, and that would help... gilles_lorin Posted April 21, 2007 Share #10 Posted April 21, 2007 Brightscreen already replied to my email! they can do the 1.33 crop. I am going to send them the visoflex on monday. They say the turn-around time is 7 to 14 days. Sounds absolutely perfect to me... Will report first impressions upon receipt. Gilles PS: Just found my old username which I had lost... I thought it was gone when the forum was upgraded... hence the sudden change of username. I'll need to get the newer one cancelled.
