blakley Posted April 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2007 I like it a lot, Gordon. Beautiful whites. Where in LA was it taken?
galavanter Posted April 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 21, 2007 Nice. Neat light. That's Echo Park. Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) was rowed across there in Roman Polanski's Chinatown, while covertly snapping photos of Mrs. Mulwray's (Faye Dunaway) husband, Mr. Mulwray. I like it a lot, Gordon. Beautiful whites. Where in LA was it taken?
stuny Posted April 21, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 21, 2007 Gordon - It positively glows!. Great good fortune about the clouds breaking up just at the treeline, fabulous tonal range and tonal gradations, lovely composition. Congratulations on your M8. Echo Park? gtownby Posted April 21, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted April 21, 2007 Thanks, all. Yes, it was good fortune. As you all know, lighting after a storm can go from surreal to flat in seconds. On my drive home, the park looked fabulous, so I got out, grabbed the Leica (50 mm cron, no filter) and was able to snap three shots before the light left. What I'm most impressed with about the camera is that there are not blow-outs in this shot. With such contrast, I really think I would have lost some of those whites with my D200. --Gordon http://www.gordonownby.net
