Welcome,

I can't really help you, it's a decision you need to make yourself. But some more info would help in getting advice on the pros/cons of each.

Do you shoot digital at present?

What's your budget for a body and lens?

Why do you want to buy a Leica - what do you want to do with it?

Hi James

For the moment I use a Nikon D90 and the Nikon FM3A.

I will go for the cheapest Leica, maybe a second hand analog or digital. Because the price is high I can't afford both so I have to make a choice that will last.

The purpose is to have a camera that will work the rest of my life.

I think you should look at a film M body - any from the M2 to the MP depending on your budget, which framelines you prefer and if you want a built in meter or not. If you don't want a meter and would like a good useable classic, you can't go wrong with the M2. Frame lines for 35/50/90 - the holy trinity of Leica focal lengths!

The digital M8 is the lowest cost digital option, crop sensor, but some parts are not available any more. The M9 is full frame but quite a lot more expensive.

I'd always suggest buying a s/h Leica (especially the first one) from a good dealer who provides a warranty.
