I think I bought the "Camera That Doesn't Exist!"

Anybody seen this page over at Cameraquest?

Leica IIIf Black Dial Self Timer

I just bought a nice IIIF BD today, and noticed that it has a factory self-timer! Is it as big a deal as this page says, in terms of value of the camera? I was thinking I'd sell one of my two IIIFs, so maybe this one is worth more? Anyone know?

Knowing me, I'll fall in love with it and not be able to sell it :)

I think the story said in Cameraquest page is right: a factory-added Self Timer on a IIIf BD: to be sure, you can check the s/n of the body and verify on the well published tables if it really belongs to a IIIf BD (there exists the strange chance it was a IIIf RD Self-Timer, shutter "broken", then repaired with BD parts... very unprobable). I even think that chasing the reseller price lists of the time one can maybe find it was a"standard-priced" retrofit, as it was, say, the upgrading of a IIf to IIIf. I have not seen the price it is offered for sale: in my opinion, if it is clean as it seems to be, is a nice camera to have, even if the value/price is not too higher than a std IIIf BD : after all, a standard factory modification with a standard mechanism: it is not, to make an example, like the IIIc "K" model of wartime, with its unique ball-bearing modified shutter for cold environments: these are really rare and with a complex factory modification.
