Gobdulm Posted January 18, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted January 18, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Why Leica not put in all their products, or at least in the X, M and S ranges, anti-scratch sapphire crystal screens? My brand new XV and has a good line in the glass. Ok my D-Lux is full of stripes everywhere, completely removed the nameplate, but after 65000 shots, just over 4 years of use and not remove it off all day, I consider average. But the XV to the first change with just the touch of a zipper or button raincoat ... it seems a bit unfortunate. And that presume to assemble the best materials. What I absolutely refuse is to put a plastic front of the monitor that great monitor with plenty of pixels and colors. It would be like putting on a brand new upholstery covers to a new Mercedes. How you see you do this? Â Sorry for my english,

Guest DrPix Posted January 18, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted January 18, 2014 What are you raving about? Should a decent quality LCD protector "ruin" X Vario's screen performance? Never! And what's the option? LCD with scratches, which ARE inevitable, sooner or later, even on "saphire-quality" sreens. Gobdulm Posted January 18, 2014 Author Share #3 Â Posted January 18, 2014 That is, according to you is the same to take sapphire crystal or not carry, the result is the same. Well, I find it shameful that a camera of this price do not carry it.
Guytou Posted January 18, 2014 Share #4  Posted January 18, 2014 I installed this protection on my D-Lux 5, Digilux 2 and X Vario :  Film de protection écran pour Leica X Vario: Vikuiti™ ADQC27  It is an excellent product which is cleaned easily and is replaced easily where necessary. I did not still make any brand on the specimens installed on my devices.  Guy

Guest DrPix Posted January 20, 2014 Share #9 Â Posted January 20, 2014 Here comes the best LCD protector on earth:) Well, almost. I've used them on all my cameras in years. Foolproof! ACMAXX LCD Protector - Leica Camera

Archiver Posted January 23, 2014 Share #11 Â Posted January 23, 2014 +1 for Acmaxx. They are fitted to almost all of my cameras including the M9, Pana LX7, Fuji X100, Ricoh GR, GRD and GXR, Canon 5D Mark II, and others. The Acmaxx screen protectors are the best I've found, and relatively inexpensive. With an Acmaxx, there is a real sense of security when holding the camera. jip Posted January 23, 2014 Share #12 Â Posted January 23, 2014 I had the M9-P that looked like shit after a while but the screen was pretty much scratch free, now I have the M240... it already has all sorts of scratches... less then on the M9 or M8, but more then on the M8.2 and M9-P... so yes I'd like to upgrade to saphire crystal. ;(
Jeff Mungar Posted January 30, 2014 Share #13 Â Posted January 30, 2014 I am trying to figure out which exact model of screen protector will fit the X Vario. is the screen the same as on the Leica M? I prefer a hard screen protector like the Giottos glass type or maybe the polycarbonate type mentioned above in this thread. But, none of these companies list a model for the X Vario. stevesurf Posted February 3, 2014 Share #19 Â Posted February 3, 2014 I'm not sure of the size for the XV, but I really like Giottos Glass Screen protectors. They are made from optics by Zeiss and one forum member has had one that protected his screen and did not damage it after it shattered: Â http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/42799-giottos-lcd-cover-glasses-2.html#post461549 Â Here's a purchase link (verify size): Â Giottos Aegis Glass LCD Screen Protector, Coolpix S51 SP8300 Â
Jeff Mungar Posted February 4, 2014 Share #20 Â Posted February 4, 2014 I ordered a giottos 8300. I had this on my Fuji X-Pro 1 and it was an excellent screen protector. the Schott glass and anti reflective coatings appear transparent and there are never any bubble problems because it doesn't touch the LCD. Hopefully the 8300 fits the X Vario. Jeff
