crow Posted January 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've got to use one, when I find one cheap on ebay, but how do I fit this to my durst enlarger? For now I've got a Nikon EL 4/50 one that clicks on to the Durst, thanks to a wider cone like ring attached to the rear of the lens. If I am not mistaken the Focotar is an M39 crew rear element lens. pico Posted January 18, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2014 Surf for Durst Setopla 2839 The '39' is the diameter in mm. .
zeitz Posted January 18, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 18, 2014 Focotar lenses are indeed LTM. Be careful though. LTM is not M39; LTM is 39mm diameter x 25 threads per inch pitch. Compur 1 is true M39; it is 39mm diameter x 0.75mm thread pitch. There could be lens boards for Durst that are M39 for Compur 1 use and that are not LTM. crow Posted January 18, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted January 18, 2014 Seems that setopia 2839 is for Durst 601 not M301 which is mine. Is there a difference? M39 isn't LTM. However dew to the focusing ability of the Durst I wouldn't have to screw the lens all the way, just a thread or two would do. Is this correct? pico Posted January 18, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 18, 2014 Whatever you find, if you will tell us why you wish to use a Focotar it would be appreciated. I use a Focomat IIa and have found its original Focotar lenses remarkably inferior to Rodenstock lenses. Perhaps the Focomats have a nature I cannot appreciate. Please stay in touch with us regarding results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
crow Posted January 19, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted January 19, 2014 I have to master enlarging. Just begun to develop my films using caffenol. My Durst looks like could be a little more sharp. Not sure if it is the EL 4/50 or the enlarger. Looks like lower right corner could use a bit more focusing. If I had to measure brightness and use the number 100 I am sure all four corners would get different ratings like 95 or 97 but not all of them 100. Any way, I was thinking of using Leica enlarger lenses since my Leica lenses work great and are extremely sharp on my cameras, E-P1 and CL, IIIa. Rodenstock, OK, but how can I judge with out seeing from up close first? The Focotar is a blind buy. I have a zeiss enlarger lens that has not got a durst mount on the back. Not sure it is an enlarger lens or a projector lens. I got it from ebay. It is a Tessar 2.8/50 but hasn't got an aperture control ring and the outside rear diameter is about 35 or 34 or 36mm. Thinking of getting a durst nedopta 25mm for the M301 and enlarge manually the inside 25mm diameter so I can fit the zeiss. Want to know if it work better than the EL 4/50. pico Posted January 19, 2014 Share #7 Posted January 19, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) If your enlargements have less than uniform focus across the print, then be sure the whole unit is aligned properly. In my experience Rodenstock lenses are superior to Focotars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
