Hanson Leatherby Posted January 8, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was wondering if anyone could see these changes to the M functionality beneficial? Have you noticed that when the camera is on auto mode and you turn on the camera whilst looking in the viewfinder you get an iso reading? Well it does appear. My thinking is that the movie button can be programmed to be used to activate iso control in conjunction with the thumb wheel. The way I see it working is as follows. You have already programmed you movie button to activate iso adjustment. Whilst the camera is to your eye(looking through optical finder) you press the movie button(now iso button). This causes the iso to appear in the bottom centre of the viewfinder(where the red dot and arrows are) and with the button held down, you can adjust the iso with the thumbwheel. Once you have got your iso required release movie button and the camera will go back to its original display of red dot and arrows or shutter speed(if on auto). I also still think you should be able to program the camera to show shutter speed in manual at all times in the viewfinder if user wishes. Low light and fast shooting is better when you can do this as you cant see the shutter speed dial in dark conditions and when sf58 is on due to it blocking the view to the dial. This would make it much more intuitive to shoot.
Advertisement Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Hi Hanson Leatherby, Take a look here iso control custom function for movie button?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
george + Posted January 8, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 8, 2014 It would be nice to have shutter settings displayed in manual mode. Like the M5 did. But does the current display in the VF provide for this?

Dannybuoy Posted January 8, 2014 Share #4 Posted January 8, 2014 I think you should apply for a job as a firmware developer :-). I'd be happy with all these
jaques Posted January 9, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 9, 2014 it is so clear that Leica should have customised the M button as to be perplexing as to why they didn't? Either they are blind to the possibilities... or there is some reason it cannot be done. It would be very good to be able to turn off the video function and assign the M button to another task- until such a time as you want to make a movie and you can turn it back on- and I agree- a quick ISO adjustment would be the best use for it. Does anyone think this will happen though?
