Don't know if this has already been posted, but it may save time and frustration: Q&A for E-PL1 - OLYMPUS Digital Camera

Click on question 7: How do I attach the eyecup EP-9 to the VF-2?

Read and then pay close attention to the video.

Found this after reading user reviews on the B&H site saying that attaching it is a royal pain, and getting exasperated myself after a half hour or so of fiddling.

If you know how to do it, it takes about 30 seconds, maybe less.

I thank the gods I wasn't the only one to struggle!

I kept thinking, "OK, what am I doing wrong? There are people in a factory in China or the Philippines who can do this in seconds".

:)

Just pull the rubber ring off, align the markings on the rims and push the eyecup on….

That is exactly what I was doing. If it worked for you, great. It wasn't working for me (at least not without exerting more force than I was happy with). If you watch the Olympus video, it goes on very easily if you do it like fitting a tire around a rim.

Sorry, I thought that was obvious:o - the ridge should go into the depression so one starts from one side, if you line up the markings the three notches will sort themselves...

Hi Jaapv and Dannybuoy,

Yes, it's so obvious that Olympus has done a FAQ and video on how to do it, maybe because lots of purchasers (see the BH site, not to mention people in this thread) have said that they've had trouble fitting it.

Sorry that I wasted band width and posted the Olympus video, given that you find this so obvious.

Great that you are apparently cleverer than many others. Less great that you are eager to point out your own cleverness.
