Thanks Thomas - this image belongs in a fairy tale book!  Truly stunning image.

Now that the follow-on camera to the A7R has been announced, namely the A7R II - maybe we should revive this thread, certainly when some of us have received their copy and start taking pictures with it.

Hell, K.H.,

Thanks for your comments. This image should have rendered better presentation if it didn't rain that much.

I'm also eager to see how well Leica WA lenses such as Elmarit 21/2.8 ASPH and 24/2.8 ASPH on A7R II.

So far I've been quite satisfied with Leica M WATE 16-18-21, M MATE 28-35-50, R 21-35 and R 28/2.8. However, i seld out the M 28/2.0 ASPH for it is not so cooperative with A7R.

Best Regards,

Thomas Chen

OK, some pictures at last, all with the A7, with a little sharpening and saturation increase with Lightroom.  I'm still learning after 50+ years with film so any constructive criticisms welcome!

First the 21mm Elmarit Aspheric, as I know Thomas was wondering about it, both at f/11 for depth of field (f/8 has good edges too), using the Sony lens correction app to adjust for light fall off and colour shading in the corners,

This one is at Alesund in Norway, 21 again as before, taking this was one of those 'Eureka' moments as I remember a Leica Focal Length comparison using this view.

And here is a scan of the comparison, from an R3 brochure of, I think, 1977.  I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a better colour version of it, but I haven't it in my 'collection' of leaflets.
