joeq Posted December 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My camera is completely unresponsive except for the red blinking light on the back when I turn it on. Other than that, no menu items show up on the LCD and nothing displays in the viewfinder when I press the shutter.... and, of course, the shutter doesn't fire. I'm 99.9% sure the battery is fresh (I'm away without my charger so I can't tell for sure) and, yes, I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back several times. Does anyone have any ideas??? I would hate to miss the chance to shoot at our holiday celebration!! Thanks!

bephoto Posted December 25, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 25, 2013 this happens when your battery is dead. maybe you had the camera on in your bag or something, I also got freaked out the first time it happened to me. then I bought another battery and I always keep it full out of the camera when I don't carry the charger with me. Only way to know is charge the battery

bephoto Posted December 25, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 25, 2013 out of curiosity I just drained a battery I had here and yep it behaves exactly as you described the red light blink and then stops. charge your battery its only way to eliminate that doubt

Geolux Posted December 25, 2013 Share #9 Posted December 25, 2013 12-25-2013 A while ago I had the same problem. I simply rapidly moved the switch through its several positions 15 or 20 times. Problem solved.
algrove Posted December 25, 2013 Share #10 Posted December 25, 2013 OP A new battery can take a few charge cycles to get its charge looking normal. So it could show 100%, but not really be 100%. As soon as I heard of this I bought a backup battery and keep the second one fully charged at all times.
dugby Posted December 25, 2013 Share #11 Posted December 25, 2013 What's in Jersey? Carlo's the cake boss. The day I went there, they had bouncers only letting a limited number of customers (from a long queue) inside, inside, for crowd control.
