jaques Posted December 24, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 24, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have just taken a brand new replacement M out of its box and taken some test images. I noticed a few things: 1) Something I also saw in my first M: a few (seemingly random) images, played back on the LCD- show up as washed out and magenta hued- but only when you zoom in. These images import fine into LR. Could this be a card error? And/Or Related to the preview JPEG? Or is this a camera glitch? 3) Wavy moving noise patterns appear on the LCD in Live View mode- at higher ISO's- but only when you half depress the shutter to lock exposure. These are very visible at high ISO- but faintly visible even at low ISO. When you release the shutter they disappear but reappear instantly int he button is pressed again. Has anyone else seen this phenomena? Is this some kind of internal electronic interference going on in the camera? I clearly video'd both phenomena on my phone- and can post the video if I knew how to do it easily and anyone is interested? Neither issue bothers me much- I am just wondering what the causes are and if it is normal or no? Camera appears to be working perfectly otherwise. Advertisement Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Hi jaques, Take a look here new m- card quirks, camera flaws?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Dannybuoy Posted December 24, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2013 The wavy lines are just the frequency of the lights in the room conflicting with the live view frame rate. It's pretty common under different light sources. Nothing to really worry about unless it's showing in your actual recorded movies. If it is you'll need to change exposure/ISO until they subside. jaques Posted December 24, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted December 24, 2013 um- that sounds like a reasonable explanation... but: it only happens when the shutter button is lightly pressed? Are you suggesting the LV frame rate would change when the shutter is half pressed and the exposure is locked?
vanGrafique Posted December 24, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 24, 2013 When slightly half pressed, the shutter speed changes to reflect the actual look of the image and thus the wavy phasing pattern may appear. You may want to use a slower shutter speed and try! LV mode just shows the brightest possible image in low light for easy focusing.
