Is it my battery or the camera?

I haven't used my Digilux 2 in over a year. Before that it was in to be serviced and updated, so it was in great shape. I've tried charging the battery and after two hours--when I returned--the green light was out and the red light on indicating it was charged. After taking 4-5 photos, the battery icon had one bar left! So, I recharged it again........and it did the same thing again. I'm assuming it's the battery. I am wondering...could it be the camera or the battery charger ? If so, what? Thanks for any input to this newbie Digiluxer! -g-

Welcome to the Forum, though this is not the most pleasant circumstance for you to be here for a first time.

I suspect it is the battery. I just did a Google search on "battery leica digilux 2" and found several sources for replacement batteries and chargers. I have several batteries, some Leica and some third party and they all seem to perform pretty much the same. Depending on where you live and where you work perhaps you should try one of my batteries in your camera so that you can either pinpoint the problem as the camera or eliminate it as a "suspect." BB, welcome to the forum. If the battery is an original, it would be quite old now and possibly life-expired, particularly if it has spent some time in an uncharged state. You should have no problem sourcing a replacement.

My two batteries, bought with the camera when first launched many years ago, are still working well, which is remarkable. But they are constantly in use and recharged.
