Mr_Jones Posted December 15, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 15, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm hoping that someone in the forum could share their experience. Selling a M9 with a current Leica warranty, does the warranty transfer to there new owner. Also cost of replacing the top plate! Does anyone have an idea of the price for this work. It's an M9-p, not that it should make any difference to the price. Apologies if this is already covered in another thread.
Advertisement Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Hi Mr_Jones, Take a look here Warranties and cost of repair. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guido Posted December 15, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 15, 2013 Question 1: It works in the case where the purchase receipt / warranty card is "anonymous" (i.e. only the date of purchase is listed, but not the original buyer's name). I don't know what happens if the receipt / warranty card lists the first owner's name. Question 2: In 2010, I was quoted 245 euros for the top plate (M9) and 32 euros for the work (I sent the camera to Solms). Prices will certainly be higher today (plus they seem to add a 40 euro handling fee on top of all non-warranty work nowadays), but maybe it's helpful as a rough indication. Thank you, that's very helpful. I will try to get quote from Leica tomorrow. 32 euros labour seems very cheap!
jaapv Posted December 15, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 15, 2013 In Europe the warranty is transferable, in the USA the warranty extended by the importer is not ( but the factory guaranty is).
