neli Posted December 13, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) So, for the EVF and Microphone set I can buy the Oli equivalents, and I'm picking up my Multifunction Handgrip next week and I really don't want to pay $300 for a charger. Has anyone figured out an alternative product?

Guest redge Posted December 13, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 13, 2013 Hey, the AC adaptor for the M240 is US$114 less than the one for the S Meanwhile, I'm gagging at the thought of buying one. Like you, keenly interested in knowing whether there is an alternative. I wonder whether the possibility of an alternative has been discussed in the S sub-forum. Guest redge Posted December 13, 2013 Share #3 Posted December 13, 2013 Maybe I'll just swallow hard and buy Leica's: Although it seems that some people have the interest, skills and patience to make their own AC adaptors (see this article and links): http://techwatch.keeward.com/geeks-and-nerds/make-your-own-ack-dc30-adapter-kit-for-canon-camera-with-a-nb-5l-battery/
marknorton Posted December 14, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 14, 2013 The problem may not just be finding a power supply with the right output voltage but more the connector used to connect to the grip. I haven't seen one but I can imagine Leica would want to use the same semi-proprietary connector as they use in the S. Apple go a stage further with their Mac power supplies where the power supply and laptop talk to each other. The power supply and laptop only switch on when they confirm with each other each end is valid. The cost of the Leica brick is obscene...
wlaidlaw Posted December 14, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 14, 2013 Given that neither the M240 nor Image Shuttle support time lapse photography, I will not be getting the power supply. That would be what I would want it for, if only that worked. Disappointing when you think that the version of Image Shuttle supplied with the Digilux 2 supported time lapse some 9 years ago.
