Life after the M240

I am new to Leica and just ordered the new M. I was curious if anyone had any thoughts of what Leica will do for the follow on device? and because of the new naming strategy ie not calling it M10, does anyone think when new upgrades eventually come they will be retrofittable like M8 to M8.2. Would be great if sensor upgrades could be done without buying a whole new camera

Any thoughts would be great

Sensor upgrades will never happen only shutter or screen upgrades... Maybe.

Sensor upgrades probably won't happen since it usually also involves the rest of the electronics.

Shutter upgrades like the M8 to M8.1 or M8u (nick names) are possible however this didn't happen with the M9 and M9-P the only difference there was the cover glass on the screen and the body. Not really differences in the camera however.

The last Leica exec who promised an upgrade program was fired.

The M 260 or 280 or 340.... or whatever... will be what it will be. And we'll guess what that is (the fun has started here), critique it ad nauseam upon arrival (after a long wait) and, after the following iteration is introduced, break into camps expressing either grief or elation over the change.

The only certainty is that a bag upgrade will be needed.

Welcome to the show.

We've got three more years of over priced special editions before anything substantial is changed within the digital M.

As a new Leica owner, you will soon learn how frustratingly out of touch Leica has become with actual photographers. Their only saving grace is that damned rangefinder that no one else dare try to replicate.

We are all stuck loving a girl that doesn't love us back! Welcome to our club. :)
