fstop Posted December 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) After charging the battery last night and turning on the camera this morning, there is a loud clicking noise that goes on for about a minute. The noise then stops, but the camera won't take photos, and all I see in the viewfinder is a small red dot. The menu, info and playback are all fine. Has anyone here ever experienced this sort of thing? Could it be a battery or card issue -- or is my M9 headed back to Leica?

marknorton Posted December 2, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 2, 2013 Sounds like it's on the way back to Leica. Hardly going to be a card issue, most likely there's a problem with the shutter cocking mechanism. If you look in the lens throat when the clicking is happening, what do you see? fstop Posted December 2, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted December 2, 2013 Nothing is happening when I look into the lens throat. Just this scary, rachety noise. I think this camera is kaput.
jaapv Posted December 2, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 2, 2013 Sounds like a shutter cocking problem. It might be less bad than you think - send it in.
