wda Posted November 27, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted November 27, 2013 Congratulations! The correct hand-grip will enhance your use of the camera, particularly if you also attach a wrist strap for extra security.

I have the X1 grip and it fits perfectly, no probs what so ever. You sure you got the original one and not some 3rd party copy?  I bought mine 2nd hans from a local Leica dealer same time I got my X2. Now I just need a VF-2..  //Juha   Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
earleygallery Posted November 30, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted November 30, 2013 Your photo shows what a flawed design the X1/X2 is. It's hardly compact in use. Â I do wish Leica would spend some time and money designing an integrated digital compact - the sensor/lens quality is fine, execution is poor. jlindstrom Posted December 1, 2013 Share #5  Posted December 1, 2013 Well, yes and no. In the pic it's the adapter tube that makes it less compact.. without the tube + external vf, it'll fit in jacket pocket and even in loose pants pocket if you really need it to.  If you need more pocketable, then get a D-Lux..  As for the flaws, the retractable lense is unnecessary. They could have further improved the lens by making it non-retractable ala Sony RX1. The current setup inhales dust particles..  So maybe the next Leica X Typ(add number of choice) should get a static lens, which would be faster.. say something in the range of 1.4 - 2.0. And please, make it FF without AA filter. Dare I say, make it a Leicanized versio of the RX1r without all the extra crap :-)  Anyway, the X2 is good for what it is. We can always wish for a million things better and be dissapointed or carry on using our kit focusing on it's strengths.  //Juha   "Keep calm and carry on"

James it is only 'flawed' if you expect it to be flat-fronted and easily popped into a shirt pocket. Taking it for what it is, my X1 is a very neat solid compact design with flawless optical performance. I bought one new and still use it regularly today, despite having a much more versatile Leica M-system. Provided you can master its little quirks, it is a super little camera and compares well with later competitors which come and go. This might sound defensive, but it is an honest assessment. A device is only flawed if it doesn't meet your expectations and is quickly dropped from lists. Not many appear on the used market.
