Gary Clennan Posted November 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All. I am trying to find a few MTF's for older lenses - 50lux pre-asph e46, 90cron pre-AA, and also 50cron V4. Any advice?

Tonki-M Posted December 2, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 2, 2013 I have a blue Leica pocket book that i got at Mayfair store which shows all lens' MTF charts. That should be easy enough to find.
Orient XI Posted December 2, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 2, 2013 I have a blue Leica pocket book that i got at Mayfair store which shows all lens' MTF charts. That should be easy enough to find. Not quite the case I'm afraid. There are several omissions, for example the 105mm mountain Elmar, the very old 135mm f/4.5 Elmar, the 180mm f/2.8 Tele-elmarit-V. Additionally for many long-lived lenses there is little indication of the vintage of the lens tested. Sometimes, despite a total change in design, the new lens bearing the same name does not have a new MTF chart (e.g. the 400mm f/5 Telyt).
dkCambridgeshire Posted December 3, 2013 Share #6 Posted December 3, 2013 Not quite the case I'm afraid. There are several omissions, for example the 105mm mountain Elmar, the very old 135mm f/4.5 Elmar, the 180mm f/2.8 Tele-elmarit-V. Sometimes, despite a total change in design, the new lens bearing the same name does not have a new MTF chart (e.g. the 400mm f/5 Telyt). The Pocket Book is still the best source for MTF data and it matters little that there are a few omissions. TTBOMK no other manufacturer's lens' MTF charts are available which cover as long a production period and in such a concise and easy to access format. And who really needs MTF data for the Mountain Elmar or the 400mm f5 Telyt or the 135/4.5 Hektor? The performance descriptions tell all that most users/collectors need to know. dunk
