Its time to stand up and be counted, if you also like the silver chromed lenses. Send Leica a e-mail and ask them when they will bring out new (or your favourite) silver chromed lenses :)

Most are available in chrome, some still new others can be found 2nd hand.

21 asph, 24 asph, 35 summilux asph, 35 summicron asph, 50 summilux asph, 50 summicron, 50 elmarit, 90 apo asph and the 28-35-50 tri elmar. I'm sure I've missed a few.

I much prefer the feel and finish on the chrome but obviously I'm in the minority otherwise they would all still be available off the shelf. Hmmm I wonder how heavy a chrome Noctilux would be?:D

Just stop fooling around with chrome.

Yeah, it is pretty but heavier, but I can imagine all the extra cost in design, tooling, inventory and logistics. All costs that a company like Leica really dosen't need. The optics are the same (of the glass, that is), so stop screwing around with the color of the metal.

Instead, how about a 28mm f1.4, or explore market price elasticity with all the 2.8 and slower glass.

They gotta be a viable business first, and I am rooting for them (and spending money on their stuff too)

When I orderd my CV 15, Photo Village informed me that they only had the silver versions in stock. No problem. While I prefer the black versions of all my lenses, I have absolutlely no problem with the silver ones, as long as they don't weight appreciably more :D

I like the chrome too. My 24 elmarit is chrome and I'm awaiting a chrome 50 lux from Leica with my 30% discount. I'd imagine they are a bit harder to resell than a black one though. A black lens looks good on both black and chrome bodies but a chrome lens looks odd (though not bad) on a black body. I have a chrome M6 TTL and M8 and have considered a second body but I think I would still go for silver/chrome but I'm not there yet.

I have the 35mm summicron aspherical and 50th Anniversary edition 50mm summicron in chrome. I specifically orderd my M8 in silver so I could use these lenses on it for that "classic" Leica look. I prefer the appearance of the chrome and don't mind the little extra weight. Although my 90mm elmarit is black, I would give strong consideration to the chrome finish for any additional lenses I may choose.
