It's in May/June 2007 issue. Review by Mark Dubovoy who is a landscape photographer with exhibitions at major art museums & a well respceted reviewer. He was the one that did the revealing comparison between the DMR & Canon cameras in an earlier issue.

I can't link to it here, since it's only available online with an access code for those who have a print copy of the magazine. It reiterates & completely vindicates what Guy, Sean, David Adamson, etc have been saying all along.

He finds that that despite its quirks, the M8 is superior to all the 35mm digital SLRs in the market in the same ways the Leica film cameras were better than the Nikon & Canon film counterparts.

Reasons given include that the images have much more depth & pop compared to the 2D rendering of the SLRs & very large prints from the M8 despite being only 10 MP hold up much better than those from the 16 MP hummer-sized top of the line Canon SLR.

Check it out.... it's a refreshing contrast to the other generic reviews out there in publication that pay lip service from superficial tests or repeat the usual complaints about IR issues, etc.

Like many others I've been frustrated with some of the teething problems of camera, but none that have given me a desire to use any other camera since getting it.

My next camera will be a backup M8 :)

Great to know we were all right all along! But do we really want other people to be able to replicate the quality of our work just by shelling out a few $$s?

;-)

Tim

No one can replicate the quality of anyone else's work (not technical quality but the other, important, kind) for all the money in the world. One of the great conceits of the marketing world is that we can buy our way to heaven. All the resolution in the world is for naught if the pictures itself isn't strong...as you well know.

Cheers Tim,

Sean

Well it always will be about sheer talent and a great eye to begin with BUT it is also nice to have gear that can compliment that great eye and talent. For me the M8 and the DMR has done that in my very short years with leica and i can only hope i can end my career with this kind of quality gear as time marches on.
