Guest V64 Posted April 17, 2007 Share #1  Posted April 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Several threads have referred to using silicone (glue?) to fix a 39mm filter onto a CV15.  Can anyone be more specific - there are so many Silicone products out there glues/sealants/clear/black etc.etc  A specific product brand and type would be ideal.  Thank-you  David H. stunsworth Posted April 17, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 17, 2007 David, I don't know about silicone glues, but I can certainly suggest you don't use 'super glue'. In my case the glue seems to have given off some kind of gas that has clouded the surface of the filter :-(.
marknorton Posted April 17, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 17, 2007 The best solution I saw was someone (sorry, forget who it was) who used an O-ring around the filter thread which then allowed the filter to be pushed into the front of the lens mount - and stay there. Â I wouldn't let silicone anywhere near a lens. Silicone gives off acetic acid while curing which could damage the lens coatings. Doesn't bear thinking about, actually.
