jto555 Posted November 16, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) After trying out an M for two weeks I bought a new M and recived it on Tuesday. 4 days later I found that it had lost all my custom settings and I was back to shooting Jpeg only. Oops! That could be costly on a job, try to colour correct a jpeg! I had saved all my settings including copyright info into a user profile, as I thought that would be safe. Guess what, the user profile name was still there but it had also lost all the settings and was back at the defaulted settings. The firmware was 2.0.0.11 and the battery was at 40%. I have sent an email off to Leica and I am interested in hearing what they say. Moral of the story, check settings before, during, and after each shoot! Advertisement Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Hi jto555, Take a look here New M just lost all custom settings. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sclemmons Posted November 17, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2013 That same thing happened to me after I took the battery out the first time to charge. For some reason, now that I am more careful to check settings, it has not happened again.
250swb Posted November 17, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 17, 2013 You do need to keep the battery in for 60 hrs after the first charge to allow the internal battery to charge up, otherwise settings will be lost. Steve
AzzaMac Posted November 17, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 17, 2013 Same thing happened to me a number of times since I got the new M about a week ago. Had the battery in there for about a week. Firmware is 2.0.0.11. Most recent occurrence was just yesterday. All my custom settings suddenly went back to default factory settings. File type also went from DNG to JPG without me changing anything. Framelines reverted from 'red' to default 'white'. Copyright information that I had keyed in also went blank. jto555, when Leica comes back to you, would you post their response on this forum please? Many thanks! jto555 Posted November 18, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted November 18, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Save a copy to your SD card. That's what the facility is there for.... Thanks a million. The only issue I have there is that I format my card every time I use it. But I have taken your advice and saved a copy to Dropbox, so at least I will have a copy available.
